Winner at Westcountry Wedding Awards 2012
The Event Studios are pleased to announce that both Dan and Jai were short-listed as finalists for the 2012 Westcountry Wedding Awards in the ‘New Business’ and best ‘Beauty Service’ categories respectively. They are also thrilled to announce that Jai won the award at the ceremony that took place on Thursday 15th March.
ABOUT THE AWARDS
The Westcountry Wedding Awards are Devon and Cornwall’s most prestigious awards for client service excellence. The Awards recognise those businesses that go the extra mile for their customers, providing outstanding service and inspire their customers to want to actively and positively promote them. It is an award that is voted for solely by clients that have used their services within the past two years. This keeps the votes and comments fresh and helps to inspire businesses to constantly work hard for their customers’ year on year. Each client is asked to vote on the quality of service, product, and commitment to the client as well as value for money that the business provided for their wedding. To be able to say that you have won, or were short-listed as a finalist, is an impressive statement as it shows that the business truly made an impression on their clients and that the clients themselves felt passionately enough to log-on and place a vote.
REVIEW OF THE AWARDS CEREMONY
On Thursday 15th March, Dan and Jai donned their glad-rags and headed to the Crownhill Fort in Plymouth for the annual Westcountry Wedding Awards ceremony. It was to be an evening full of anticipation, laughter, good food and networking with other finalists and VIP’s.
They arrived to a welcome drinks reception held in the main magazine. This provided a good opportunity for everyone to relax, mingle and get to know each other over a few glasses of complimentary Pimms, whilst photographers and videographers caputured the aniticipation and mounting excitement. There was entertainment provided by the recently formed ‘Swing Kings’, who filled the Fort with their smooth harmonies and powerful vocals which helped to create a real party atmosphere.
The guests then made their way into the adjoining marquee (beautifully decorated by Southwest Chair Covers and Event Services (UK) Ltd) for the delicious 3-course meal, provided by the Fort. The guests enjoyed a starter of fresh 3-cheese tart with grape chutney, a delicious main course of
Roast lamb rump, sweet potato dauphionse, aubergine puree & port jus (with a full flavoured mushroom Wellington for the vegetarians) topped off with an indulgent trio of desserts, with Eaton mess & pictashio ice cream, lemon tart & passion fruit coulis, double chocolate & walnut brownie.
It was then time for the awards to be presented. With tangible nerves in the air, the winners for each category were announced, accompanied by some of the client comments that helped to win them the award. It was to the sound of rapturous applause from the whole crowd, that they went up the red carpet to receive their trophy, presented by the Lord Mayor of Plymouth.
The hotly contested Beauty Service category was a highly anticipated award as it was full of previous entrants and winners as well as newcomers to the awards, including Jai at The Event Studios. When it was revealed that Jai had won the converted accolade, it was with much joy, shock and emotion that she went up and collected her winners’ trophy and certificate.
When asked about winning the award Jai said; “I am so thrilled to have won. This award means so much as it is voted for by brides that I have worked with; To be part of a brides special day is always an honour and to know that they truly valued and appreciated what I did is fantastic and very moving. I absolutely love my job and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me and the whole Event Studios team.”
Dan said of the evening: “I feel particularly proud to have been short-listed as a finalist as there was a lot of stiff competition in the nominees. I wish to say huge congratulations to Cake Top Characters who won the New Business award. I am so pleased to say that, despite the economic situation in the UK at the moment, my business is growing from strength to strength with bookings already being taken for the 2013 season. It is a very exciting time for The Event Studios, I am really looking forward to the year ahead.”
Other winners included; The Cake Lady, Bridal Designs Wedding Jewellery, Strawberry Leisure VW Wedding Hire and Bloss Bridal Gowns. Runners-up included; Two Peas in a Pod (Wedding and Occasion Hat Hire) and Prudence Gowns.
After the ceremony goody bags were handed out whilst the Swing Kings played another rousing set. Everyone agreed that it had been a fantastic evening that proved the Westcountry wedding industry is full of extraordinary talent that deserves to be celebrated.
